Teachers

Kindergarten Teacher: Debbie Hohman
Miss Hohman received her Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education from Ohio University She has been teaching for more than 20 years and has been with St. Mark for 6 years.

 

1st Grade Teacher: Jennifer Stahorsky
Mrs Stahorsky received her Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education from Cleveland State University. She has been teaching Kindergarten at St. Mark since the 2006-2007 school year, and taught preschool for 4 years prior.

 

2nd Grade Teacher: Monica Furfari
Mrs. Furfari earned a Bachelor of Arts from Ursiline College and an Elementary Certificate at Cleveland State. She has 16 years of experience teaching junior high and private piano lessons. Mrs. Furfari has been teaching at St. Mark for 7 years.

 

3rd Grade Teacher: Cheryl Poppe
This is Mrs. Poppe's 5th year of teaching at St. Mark; however, she has ten years of prior teaching experience. She graduated with a major in Elementary Education, minoring in psychology, from Concordia in Ann Arbor in 1997.


4th Grade Teacher: Lisa Barry

Mrs. Barry has been teaching since 1993. She received my Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education from Westminster College. Her first year of teaching fourth grade at St. Mark has been incredibly inspiring as she’s nurtured the children and watched them grow. Her goal is to always provide a stimulating atmosphere in which the students can grow and mature emotionally, intellectually, socially, and above all, spiritually. Her role is to assist the children in having a greater respect for the Lord, themselves, and their peers. She also excels at teaching to the needs of each child so that all learners can feel capable and successful.

5th Grade Teacher: Naomi Schiffrik
Mrs. Schiffrik is in her 5th year of teaching at St. Mark School. She has 26 years of prior experience teaching. She earned a Bachelor of Arts from Wittenberg University in 1972, graduating with honors. She has also accomplished post-graduate work in education at Baldwin Wallace College and LaVerne College extension. She received her Master's Degree in May, 2006 from Marygrove College.

 

6th Grade Teacher: Kevin Williams

This is Mr. Williams’ 4th year teaching; and currently his first year teaching at St. Mark. He was awarded a bachelor’s Degree from City University of New York-College of Staten Island in Elementary Education and recently earned his Masters Degree in Curriculum and Instructions-English as a Second Language from the University of Nebraska, Kearney. Prior to teaching at St. Mark, he taught in the inner-city of Cleveland, created an International Friends program for Refugee kids through Building Hope in the City.

 

7th Grade Teacher & Principal: Gary Dittmar
He has Bachelor of Science in Education and Masters in Administration Degrees from Concordia University.

 

8th Grade Teacher: Tammy Szoyka
Mrs. Szoyka earned a Master of Science in Sports Administration from UW-La Crosse in 2003. Her undergraduate major was in Elementary Education with a minor in Coaching from Concordia University in Wisconsin (Mequon) in 1993. She has 16 years of experience in teaching, 6 at St. Mark School.


Music Director: Tricia Crane
Mrs. Crane has been serving as the Director of Parish Music and Music Teacher at St. Mark for 6 years. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Music Education in 2004 from Cleveland State University, graduating with honors. She uses the Kodaly Pedagogy of music education in her approach to teaching and directing ensembles, and has completed her first level in the Kodaly teacher training. She enjoys working with young and old alike to help all realize their God-given talents.
